Sat 31st August - Landing at Vancouver Island, very jet lagged, but still walked from the hotel to Beacon Hill Park (fantastically sunny day, how could I not)
Great park, ponds, sea view, even a totem pole - the world's tallest free-standing one at that!
Sun 1st September - Found a market to walk around, the local Chinatown, and the British Columbia government building (which looks suspiciously like St Pauls Cathedral)
A reasonable amount of walking in the local area to see what's about, but still rather jetlagged.
Mon to Thursday midday - Work! Putting some rather complicated sub-sea sensors together.
A couple of trips to Beacon Hill Park again, finding more things
Thursday Afternoon - Mount Douglas Park - the 'local mountain' (225m... it's a hill). Largest park in the area, great views, and a very easy walk up - there's even a tarmac road all the way to the summit.
Friday - Free Day! Hiked up Mount Benson - 1,023m elevation so an actual mountain, comparable to Snowdon. Great weather for it, fantastic photos, including a photosphere about an hour before sunset from the summit!
Decent long hike up starting at Witchcraft Lake, nothing challenging though, and a rather fast run back down to get back to the car before it was too dark! (Only one slightly wrong turn... down a steeper path but still towards the car park)
Saturday - Heading over to Vancouver City via ferry, a week holiday booked and staying with my Cousin Jay!
